A black roper, built low and all in leather — the short-shafted, low-heeled boot that western footwear started using for work.
The vamp is black cowhide with a black top above it, and the height comes in at 11". The toe is a U shape and the heel is a 1" roper heel, which is the low, walkable one rather than the angled cowboy heel. Top, lining and outsole are all leather. On sizing, the supplier's own note is worth repeating: ladies should subtract a size and a half from their usual size.
Ropers are the western boot for people who are on their feet and moving. The low heel keeps the foot flat, the short shaft comes on and off quickly, and black keeps it all from looking like a costume. Wear them with a straight-leg trouser that breaks at the top of the vamp. Leather outsoles want dry ground; on wet days there are better choices in the rack.
