The Brigston is the work end of the western range — broad square toe, stockman heel, rubber underfoot and an orthotic that lifts out.
The shaft is leather, 11" tall with a 14" circumference, and the lining is textile. The toe is a broad square, wide across the front, and the heel is a stockman at 1" — lower and squarer than a cowboy heel, which is what makes it steady rather than showy. The outsole is rubber and the orthotic is removable, so the inside of the boot can be cleaned or replaced when it stops doing its job.
This is built for tough conditions and long hours on hard ground, and it does not pretend otherwise. The low stockman heel keeps the foot flat and stable; the rubber sole grips where a smooth one slides. It still looks like a western boot rather than a work shoe, which is the reason to choose it over something purely functional. Between sizes, take the wider width — broad square toes need the room.
