Carmel crazy shoulder, cut to a 12" shaft — a hide with a deliberately uneven surface, in a warm caramel tone.
Crazy shoulder is the shoulder section of the hide, finished so the natural grain and its irregularities stay visible instead of being buffed flat. That means no two pairs are marked the same way, and the marks are the reason to buy it. The shaft measures 12", the shorter end of the western range, and a spur ledge is built into the heel to give a spur a shelf to sit on.
A surface like this looks better used than new, so these are not boots to keep for special occasions. The shorter shaft makes them easy to pull on and easy to wear under a trouser, and the warm tone sits comfortably against blue, olive or stone. Let the grain do the work and keep everything above the ankle plain. If you sit between two sizes, change the width before the length.
